What’s Good Wildcats,
We hope all of you are having an excellent week and enjoying the festivities of Homecoming so far! Arizona Athletics has been busy since going on the road and they have come home with their winning ways.
This past weekend, our football team traveled up north to the Rockies to take on our Pac-12 South rivals, Colorado Buffs. A battle back and forth, the Cats were down by 7 going into the 4th quarter with the altitude taking a toll on their bodies. Raising their hands, holding four fingers in the air, the Wildcats looked to seal up the victory and not look back. Looking for someone to charge up the boys and make an impact, Coach Rodriguez decided to put in Jerrard Randall, rolling the dice on the backup quarterback. Passing 3 for 3 for 42 yards and rushing for 81 yards on 11 carries adding a touchdown, Randall prevailed in the fourth quarter and preserved the 31-24 win for the Wildcats.
Also stepping up big for the Wildcats was senior running back Jared Baker, who ran for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns filling in for the injured Nick Wilson who was injured earlier in the game.
After the win, the Wildcats now improve to 2-2 in the conference and 5-2 overall for the season. Coming into the town this weekend are the visiting Washington State Cougars, who come in with a 2 game winning streak and a 4-2 record overall. The game will start at 1pm, with the doors opening at 11:30am for the ZonaZoo.
With the football team on the road, another team started their quest for a 3rd straight conference championship. The basketball team, led by seniors Kaleb Tarczewski and Gabe York, opened up McKale Center for the 2015-2016 campaign with their annual Red & Blue, intrasquad game. In front of a sold-out crowd of 14, 655 people, the team put on a show highlighted by the dunk contest and game. Newcomers Mark Tollefsen and Ryan Anderson, led the Blue team, while Dusan Ristic and Allonzo Trier carried the Red team to the 49-41 victory. Up next, the basketball team will tip-off the preseason in an exhibition game against Chico State on Nov. 8 in the McKale Center at 6pm.
Good luck you Wildcats on Midterms and we will see you on Saturday.
When in doubt,
